Artist sourav pramanik BIOGRAPHY
Sourav Pramanik is a distinguished contemporary artist hailing from the Seraikela-Kharsawan district (Chandil block) of Jharkhand. Possessing a deep-seated passion for art since childhood, Sourav initiated his artistic journey with a 'Diploma in Fine Arts' from Rabindra Bhavan. Currently, he is in the final year of his Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree at Srinath University. Rejecting the notion that art is confined to physical mediums, brushes, or canvases, he perceives it fundamentally as a 'pure human capability.'Sourav’s artistic vision is anchored in the concept of **'Micro-truth.'** While the world often perceives only ephemeral physical forms, Sourav resurrects the invisible, pulsating, and vital essence hidden within them onto his canvas. A defining characteristic of his visual language is the unique application of high-contrast chiaroscuro (the intense interplay of light and shadow), which he employs specifically to evoke the intrinsic 'energy' of the subject. Complementing this is his signature textured background, deeply inspired by organic formations such as earth mounds and mushrooms. Furthermore, the prominent 'White Border' in his creations is not a mere frame or window, but functions as a symbolic security shield and a testament to the artwork's completion.
Sourav has actively participated in numerous national and international painting exhibitions and workshops, consistently carving out a distinct identity in the art fraternity. His major accolades and honors include:
* Voice of Mask International Honor (2021): Organized by 'Artdom' during the pandemic, this global competition recognized Sourav as one of the Top 25 Artists internationally.
* Teachers Excellence Award (2025): Conferred by the IPTA in Jamshedpur for his outstanding contributions to the field of art.
* Jharkhand Voter Awareness Contest Award (2024): Honored by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Jharkhand at the Election Department, Ranchi.
* Mera TV Film Festival Felicitation (2024): Awarded in Ranchi for his creative and artistic activism.
* Youth Artist of Jharkhand Award (2023): Presented by the Karam Foundation at the Press Club, Ranchi, during the 'Main Hoon Jharkhand' ceremony.
* Y.H.A. India Art Workshop Honor (2022): Felicitation received at the workshop held at the Recreation Club, Telco.
* Scarlet India Art Workshop Honor (2022): Distinguished recognition at the national workshop hosted at the ICCR Art Gallery, Kolkata.
Operating as a conscious 'Artivist' and cartoonist, Sourav also utilizes his visual expression to highlight pressing social and infrastructural challenges. Rather than superficially imitating the styles of master artists, he dedicates himself to studying the 'primal energy' and original sources that shape nature and creation. Prioritizing artistic authenticity, exceptional skill, and self-respect, Sourav’s body of work serves as a compelling invitation to viewers to break away from the hypnosis of societal conformity, reconnect with their roots, discover their true selves, and boldly carve out their own unique path.
